Paul Patterson

In Memorium Paul Patterson

Proms 1945-2001

It is with sadness that we record the death of Paul Patterson, a Promenader for over fifty years, who died on 28th Jun 2003.

No one who met him will forget his tall frame, broad-shouldered and slightly stooping to speak to you, and his think white hair and luxuriant moustache. Even less will we forget his love of Mozart, his genial and ready wit, his appreciation of good wine and his great bonfire of a pipe.

Some of us will also remember him on a trip to the Folkstone Brass Band Contest, when not only was keeping Paul and his wheelchair in one piece, on the steepest slalom ramp in the UK, hair-raising, but we also had mor ethan ten people, including strangers, desperately searching for his pipe... which he was sitting upon!

Our sympathy goes to his wife, Pat, and to his daughters and family. A floral tribute including pink and white carnations and lilies, was sent from the Promenaders. There will be a private collection, with all additional money being given to the hospice where he spent his final days.

Proms Reviews

We received one review for 2002 from Master Andrew Johnston (aged 8). He reviewed the Nations Favourite Prom and put the rest of you to shame!

Master Johnston aged 9 attended the Nations Favourite Prom again this year - but I'm not sure I convinced him him to send in a review. I'll ask his Dad when I see him next - or even his Mum. Andrew - send one in quick before she asks you!

Meanwhile, the usual suspects are back and shipping reviews - but we are always happy to get reviews from new people - so send 'em in.

The Be A Critic page tells you how, or you can email it (plain text please - no HTML or MSWord!) direct to spider@promenaders.freeserve.co.uk

If you prefer, you can post your review to the Proms Forum. It's faster since you won't have to wait for human intervention to see your submission.

Proms Rumours

There were a few rumours for the 2003 season.

You can find them on the Forum - and I'll put them on these pages when time permits.

The records of past efforts at predicting the programme can be found in Rumour control.

Anyone having prior knowledge of the 2004 season should contact the Rumour Control Officer with details as a matter of urgency.
