Welcome to the Proms - the greatest music festival in the world.
This site is dedicated to the Proms from the Promenaders' point of view.
Everyone has heard of the Last Night of the Proms. But in case you don't know, the Proms is a series of concerts founded by Sir Henry Wood in 1895, now promoted every summer by the BBC. Over 70 concerts take place in the Royal Albert Hall, London, usually one every night, sometimes with additional late night concerts and, on occasional weekends, afternoon concerts too. The Promenaders are those folk who stand during the concerts, whether in the Arena or the Gallery. Explore this site to find news and gossip from the Proms, reviews (better described as personal impressions), photos, a discussion forum, information about how to get to the Proms and what to do when you get there, and loads more.
Finding your way around the siteThe site has been moved recently and some redesigning is underway to make navigation easier. I've tried to keep as much of the old structure as possible but regular visitors may need guidance as to how to find their way to familiar pages. The site includes pages with names that will be very familiar to all Prommers, plus a Proms Forum, FAQ and a links page.If you come across a broken link or typo, or can't find your favourite page, please email the webmaster to complain.
